Etymology

Possibly cognate with Latin cremor (thick juice made by boiling grain), Sanskrit करम्भ (karambha, barley porridge, soup, mixture) and Proto-Celtic *kurmi (beer), all of which point to Proto-Indo-European *ḱr̥h₃-m- (porridge, soup).
