Reconstruction:Proto-Slavic/ličiti
Proto-Slavic
Etymology
From *likъ (“face”) + *-iti (“denominal suffix”).[1]
The "reveal" and "count" senses are semantic extensions of the "befit, resemble" sense, via "befit (face)" > "show one's face" > "reveal, divulge" > "count, keep score".[2]
