Etymology
Borrowed from Mongolic, compare Kalmyk андн (andn, “friend”). The Mongolic word istelf borrowed from a Turkic source, ultimately from Proto-Turkic *ānt (“oath”), whence also Turkish ant. See also *gürkü (“friend”), native form.
