Etymology

From +‎ *-me +‎ *-lig (see more at Turkish -meli). However, the existence of the Chuvash cognate, may precede the Turkish derivation from -me +‎ -li.[1]

    ‎*seb- (“to love”) + ‎*-melig → ‎*sebmelig (“(s/he) should love”)
