I’m Soph, not Sophie. When I order a coffee from Starbucks and I tell them my name is Soph, they reply with ‘Is that Sophie?’ When I sign off an email ‘Best Wishes, Soph’ and the reply is ‘Thanks for your email, Sophie’ – I don’t recall saying Sophie, so STOP. It’s Soph. Just Soph. Obviously if you want to get into the nitty gritty of it, my passport says Sophie, and my mum calls me Sophie when I’m in trouble, but unless you’re my passport or my mum, Soph will do! I find it’s more approachable and friendly and makes me feel good.
