From Latin Sillinae, Silina, Siluruni, found as Ancient Greek Σίλυρες (Sílures), Σύρινες (Súrines), of uncertain origin - suggested to be from solis insulae (“isles of the sun”) or related to the Celtic goddess Sulis.
