Todesfolge

German

Etymology

From Tod (death) +‎ -es- +‎ Folge (consequence).

Pronunciation

  • IPA(key): /ˈtoːdəsˌfɔlɡə/

Noun

Todesfolge f (genitive Todesfolge, no plural)

  1. (law) the fact that a crime results in the unintended death of the victim, by negligence or (certain forms of) recklessness
Raub mit Todesfolgerobbery resulting in death
Vergewaltigung mit Todesfolgerape resulting in death

Usage notes

  • In legal theory, a crime mit Todesfolge is strictly distinguished from a murder committed in coincidence with, or during the perpetration of, another crime; compare Raubmord, Sexualmord. In legal practice, this distinction is of course often very difficult; compare billigend in Kauf nehmen.
