Todesfolge
German
Etymology
From Tod (“death”) + -es- + Folge (“consequence”).
Pronunciation
- IPA(key): /ˈtoːdəsˌfɔlɡə/
Noun
Todesfolge f (genitive Todesfolge, no plural)
- (law) the fact that a crime results in the unintended death of the victim, by negligence or (certain forms of) recklessness
- Raub mit Todesfolge ― robbery resulting in death
- Vergewaltigung mit Todesfolge ― rape resulting in death
Usage notes
- In legal theory, a crime mit Todesfolge is strictly distinguished from a murder committed in coincidence with, or during the perpetration of, another crime; compare Raubmord, Sexualmord. In legal practice, this distinction is of course often very difficult; compare billigend in Kauf nehmen.
