From initial letter Y of English yellow, using a movement similar to other ASL color signs, e.g. G@Side Twist (“green”), B@Side Twist (“blue”).

Production

  • This one-handed ASL sign is produced as follows:
    1. Posture the dominant hand in the “Y” handshape about half an arm’s length in front of the shoulder.
    2. Repeatedly twist the hand clockwise and counterclockwise.
    3. Posture the dominant hand in the “Y” handshape about half an arm’s length in front of the shoulder, dominant palm facing back.
