Etymology

Shortening of Zionist. An ethnic slur[1][2] [3] referring to Jews[4] coined or popularised by former KKK leader, neo-Nazi and conspiracy theorist David Duke[5] in the early 1990s and can form offensive epithet. [6] Often used to form portmanteaus, first appearing as Zionazi in the 1980s.[7] Its usage expanded into nominally left-wing individuals in the UK Labour Party in the 2010s.[8]
