absonō (present infinitive absonāre); first conjugation, no perfect or supine stems, impersonal in the passive

  1. (intransitive) to be discordant (to have a harsh or unpleasant sound)
  2. (with ab) to be incongruous, to disagree with

Usage notes

Sense 2 is Classically attested only in the participle absonāns.
