From ander- +‎ 𐌔𐌉𐌔𐌕𐌖 (sistu), ultimately from Proto-Italic *sizdō, itself from Proto-Indo-European *sísdeti. Compare Latin sīdō, although the Latin equivalent Latin form would be intersīdō.
