antingen

Swedish

Etymology

From Old Swedish annattwäggia, from a compound of annat (other) +‎ tväggia (genitive of tver (two)), literally the other of the two. The change of the middle syllables to -ing is probably from analogy to various words ending with the suffix -ing.
