Etymology

From a semi-learned alteration (based on its ultimate Latin root) of Old Navarro-Aragonese jullol, juyol, (to differentiate it from junyo (“June”)), from Latin iūlius.[1] Compare also Catalan juliol, Occitan julhet and French juillet.
