Etymology

Unknown; sometimes connected to īnfēnsāre (“to destroy”). Folk etymology relates the term to fezes (“feces”) (as in a derivation from en- +‎ fez +‎ -ar), such that enfezado would have originally meant “constipated”, but this is unsupported.
