Compound of flamma (flame) +‎ -ig (-y). First attested in 1745.[1]

Adjective

flammig (comparative flammigare, superlative flammigast)

  1. Have shifting shade or uneven colour (reminiscent of flames); blotchy, patchy.
    Väggen är alldeles flammig.
    The wall is all blotchy.
