From dialectal Tosk pshij, pëshinj, from Proto-Albanian *bʰs-in-je/o-, from Proto-Indo-European *bʰes- (rub) (compare Old High German besamo (broom), Ancient Greek ψάω (psáō, to rub), English berry).
