glaucescence

English

Etymology

By surface analysis, glaucescent +‎ -ence, though Merriam-Webster presumes a New Latin *glaucēscentia, from New Latin glaucēscēns (glaucescent).[1] However, the Missouri Botanical Garden's A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin holds no examples attesting this, instead attesting Latin glaucēdō.[2]

Pronunciation

  • (British) IPA(key): /ɡlɔːˈsɛ.səns/[3][4]
  • (US) IPA(key): /ɡlɑˈkɛ.səns/
