gyertya (plural gyertyák)

1. candle (light source consisting of a wick embedded in wax, tallow or paraffin)
   • 1909, Terka Lux, “Az igaziak...”, in A ​Una Corda‎^[1]:

     A gyertya a végét járta s a lefolyt faggyú sercegve égett a gyertyatartó oldalán.

     The candle was nearing its end, and the spilt tallow sizzled on the side of the candle holder.

2. shoulder stand (gymnastic pose in which the legs are pointed upwards with the body supported by the shoulders)
