Inherited from Old Javanese jöṅ (foot), possibly from Austroasiatic. Compare Proto-Mon-Khmer *ɟuŋ ~ *ɟuəŋ ~ *ɟəŋ (leg, foot), whence Khmer ជើង (cəəng), Bahnar jơ̆ng and Mon ဇိုၚ် (juiṅ).
