Cognate with Proto-Agaw *ləw-, Proto-Cushitic *ɬoʔ- (“cow(s)”), and Proto-Semitic *layʔ- (“bull”), whence Akkadian 𒄞 (lûm) and Arabic لَأًى (laʔan).
