ksch

German

Etymology

Probably imitative, compare Russian кыш (kyš). Alternatively from kusch (command for a dog to lie down). The form kusch also appears in the sense of “shoo”, but this might be through secondary confluence.

Pronunciation

  • IPA(key): [kʃ̩]

Interjection

ksch!

  1. shoo; a sound made to chase off an animal
    Synonym: (more mildly) husch
Ksch! Ksch! Weg da, du blöde Möwe!
Shoo! Shoo! Go away, you stupid seagull!
