Borrowed from Early Modern Spanish ojalá, from Arabic وَشَاءَ ٱلله (wašāʔa llāh, “and may God will it”)[1][2] or لَوْ شَاءَ ٱلله (law šāʔa llāh, “if God wills it”). Compare English inshallah.
