Borrowed from Early Modern Spanish ojalá, from Arabic وَشَاءَ ٱلله (wašāʔa llāh, and may God will it)[1][2] or لَوْ شَاءَ ٱلله (law šāʔa llāh, if God wills it). Compare English inshallah.
