Etymology

From Middle High German rīch(e)lich, from Old High German rīhlīh, *rīhhilīh. By surface analysis, reich (rich) +‎ -lich. In modern German it can also be reinterpreted as reichen (to suffice) +‎ -lich, but this is unetymological. Cognate with Dutch rijkelijk.
