ruột rà

Vietnamese

Etymology

From ruột (blood ties) +‎ , a fossil word.

This term was attested in Phật thuyết đại báo phụ mẫu ân trọng kinh (佛說大報父母恩重經), with the second element written as 口⿰𪜀, composed of + 𪜀 (a simplified form of (MC la), modern SV: la). It is not totally clear whether the element (khẩu) here was semantic or phonetic.
