sdraio
See also: sdraiò
Italian
Pronunciation
- IPA(key): /ˈzdra.jo/
- Rhymes: -ajo
- Hyphenation: sdrà‧io
Etymology 1
Ellipsis of sedia a sdraio (keeping the feminine gender of sedia), where sdraio is deverbal from sdraiarsi (“to lie down”). The alternative form sdraia undergoes a change in the ending to match the gender. The alternative form's plural sdraie also became the plural of sdraio for some speakers, to solve the ambiguity of invariability.
