sest.a.plens
Paelignian
Etymology
Unknown. The sequence ⟨pl⟩ is typically emended to either ⟨tt⟩, ⟨tu⟩, or ⟨ti⟩. If the reading *sestatuens is accepted, then the term may be connected to Latin statuō and Volscian sistiatiens. perhaps from Proto-Italic *statuō. Rex, however, prefers an emendation to ⟨tt⟩ and connects the term to Latin sistō, from Proto-Italic *sistō.
