- Feelings, thoughts, contemplation of, a preoccupation with or a general desire for one's own suicide, or the idea of ceasing to exist. [20th c.]
Usage notes
- The term is sometimes (though not generally) used in the context of a person having an active intent to commit suicide, which is more usually referred to as suicidal intent.
