Etymology

From zwee (“two”) +‎ Ee (“egg”) +‎ -eg, after German zweieiig (literally “two-eggy”). Luxembourgish uses ë to indicate hiatus in some cases, but only for the short or reduced vowel [ə]; therefore the spelling is zweeeeëg and not *zweeëeëg.
