Introduction

Side view mirrors are key to traffic safety and having a functional side view mirror is required by law.

We will be showing how to replace an existing side view mirror on a 2009-2013 Hyundai Sonata with a new one.

Make sure the car is turned off to prevent electrical shock. Ensure you have enough space to move around door to prevent dropping the mirror.

Use a flathead screwdriver or pry tool to pry open the trim paneling at the base of the sideview mirror.
Insert tool and pry carefully to avoid damaging the panel.

Pinch the wire harness retaining tab and disconnect the wire harness in the center of the three bolts.

While holding the mirror, remove the three hex nuts using your socket and ratchet extension.
Ensure you are holding the mirror so it does not fall to the ground after removing the bolts.

Insert the new side view mirror by lining the bolts up with the three holes.
Make sure bolts are aligned with holes and that the mirror is flush with the car.

Align the plastic protrusions with the holes and push the trim paneling back into place.
Trim paneling is secure when you hear a clicking noise from the plastic connection.

Conclusion

The side view mirror has now been replaced.
