Usage
Taginfo shows usage of =* for indicating the location of the downward slope in relation to the way (such as highway=*) this tag is added to, such as embankment:side=both; for this purpose please use the specific key embankment:side=* instead.
Using =* to describe the specific type of embankment is preferable over using the general key embankment=* for this (such as embankment=dyke ) since the latter prevents other / more regular normal usage of embankment=* on that element (for instance to describe other specifics, such as the location as the downward slope, which is -as of 2023-01 a more common -although less systematic- usage then embankment:side=* ).
