A petting zoo is generally quite different from a regular zoo (also tagged with tourism=zoo). A petting zoo usually is aimed at local children and not really at tourism. A petting zoo can also become a point of social attraction for the neighbourhood. The animals are usually safe to be handled by children, in contrast to the often exotic and dangerous animals in a zoo.
