- According to sources outside the Assamite clan, the Treaty of Tyre was signed this year, not in 1496.[1][2][3][4][5]
- Alexander VI issues a papal bull that divides the Americas between Spain and Portugal.[6]
- The Fourth Council of the Council of Nine meets in Horizon.[7]
- Noted Hermetic Philippus Aureolus Paracelsus is born.[8]
October
- October 23: The Convention of Thorns declares an end to the Anarch Revolt, forms the Camarilla and calls for an end to hostilities with the Assamites.[9][10][11][12] Disgruntled Anarchs form the Sabbat.[13]
- Note: Some sources place the signature of the Treaty of Tyre in the same year as the Convention of Thorns, although most agree that this occurred in 1496. Some sources would place the death of the Old Man of the Mountain is said to have occurred five years later of the formalization of the Treaty.
- October 23: In the German city of Cochem, a group of vampires from different Clans and different regions of Europe is met by a figure that claims to be Caine. While much of his words are apocryphal, one of his statement is that 13 was the number he chose, and only with 13 could there be Salvation.[14]
