Events

  • One of Deban Dun's cultists dies of influenza in Japan; it is unknown where they hid its reliquary feather.[1]

May

  • King Louis XVI summons the Estates General, which has not met since 1614, to Paris to discuss badly needed financial reforms.[2]

June

  • Members of the Third Estate defect from the Estates General and form the National Assembly, joined by liberal nobility and low-level clergy.[2]

July

  • The National Assembly becomes the National Constituent Assembly, with the intent of writing a new constitution for France.[2]
  • July 14: Two years of bad harvests and rising rents culminate in the storming of the Bastille in Paris.[3]

October

  • An armed mob, made up mostly of women, march on Versailles and coerce the royal family to return with them to Paris.[2]
