- The British Government passes a law banning outright ownership of four breeds of “fighting dog,” and making an attack by a dog a criminal offense for which the owner is culpable.[1]
- Null Mysteriis publishes "The Psychopathology of an Urban Legend: Towards an Understanding of the “Slasher” Phenomenon". The book becomes a standard in Hunter organizations dealing with Slashers.[2]
- Bishopsgate Director Thomas Bateman murders his assistant and flees. He is arrested and charged with murder and with embezzlement of hospital funds, something discovered after his arrest. Bateman claims he felt "compelled" to commit the murder. Two years later, Bateman is beaten to death in prison.[3]

- September 22: A set of three films possibly capturing supernatural phenomenon is broadcast on a Dallas public access station by amateur filmmaker Jim Harrison.[4]
