Abydos

Abydos, also known as Abedju, is an ancient Egyptian city well known for its tombs. Specifically, it houses the tomb of the first true pharaoh, Narmer, and the last predynastic ruler, Scorpion II.[1]

The city, during the fourth century BCE, was host to a number of valuable artifacts, among them the Abydos Cipher, which would resurface far into the future. Additionally, Stygian Verges and Avernian Gates lay thick on the ground.[2]

Due to its resources, Abydos was a hotbed of adventurers and thieves.[2]
