Artifact (MTAw)

An Artifact is a mystical object, simultaneously a symbol of Supernal magic and a tool independently empowered to create sorcerous effects[1]. Artefacts come from the Supernal Realms - they cannot be created by Mages. Some mages find or bargain for Artefacts during their Awakening, others receive them as Boons from Supernal Entities they summon. The Exarchs have been known to grant Artifacts to their favoured servants, most famously among them the Profane Urim.

Every Artifact has its own Mana pool, and can be considered to have an effective Gnosis and Arcana rating proportional to its effect. An Awakened user who has determined the Artifact's effects may substitute her own Gnosis and Arcana rating, if desired. Some Artifacts activate independently under specified conditions. The user may also access the Artifact's Mana pool to supplement her own without activating it.

An Artefact also counts as a Path tool Yantra for the Path corresponding to its highest-rated Arcanum.
