Auspice (WTA)
Auspice is the term for the phase of the Moon under which a Garou was born. Other fera also have auspices, currently those are described on the pages for each kind of fera.
In Werewolf: The Apocalypse 5th Edition, Auspice is not determined by what phase of the moon a Garou was born under, but instead which they had their First Change under.[1]
Overview
The Auspice defines the character's starting Rage (before WTA 5e), which Gifts they will be able to learn, and their role in Garou society. There are five Auspices, as follow:
- Ragabash - Garou born under the New Moon. Their role is the Trickster and Questioner of the Old Ways. In 5e, their verbs are trick, misdirect, mock, and sneak.[1]
- Theurge - Garou born under a crescent moon. They are Shamans, more in contact with the spiritual world, the Umbra, and the spirits. In 5e, their verbs are summon, invoke, placate, and bind.[1]
- Philodox - the Half-Moon are Judges and Mediators in Garou society. They usually are the leaders in time of peace. In 5e, their verbs are evaluate, interpret, punish, and judge.[1]
