Bagaudae
The Bagaudae were tyrants who ruled the freeholds of Rennes from the fall of the Roman Empire to 1683.
Overview
Aggressive and cruel, the Bagaudae were well known for their habits of press-ganging those under their rule — or, failing that, selling them back to the Others. During the time of Louis XIV, the leader of the group, Comorre, and his followers held hostage envoys from Nantes and Paris heading to Saint-Malo. This hostage situation would deteriorate until Nantes agreed to sign the Accord of the Spheres in exchange for military aid from the Court of the North Star.
Ultimately, the Bagaudae were annihilated in the resulting conflict, though several escaped into the Hedge or into Saint-Malo. Comorre himself died in a final stand enhanced by the use of a token known as a Blood Pennon. Its drawback called forth a host of Others, who inflicted further casualties, primarily on the Nantais Lost.
