Accord of the Spheres
The Accord of the Spheres was an agreement made between the freeholds of France that established the Court of the North Star.
Overview
In December of 1664, the changeling known as Madame Estelle invited to her hollow, the Brocéliande on the edge of Paris, the leaders of three prominent French freeholds: those of Paris, Lyons, and Marseille. There, the group created an alliance and associated set of policies that they called the Accord of the Spheres.
The Accord centered Brocéliande at the seat of what would come to be known as the Court of the North Star, with Estelle as its Empress. With other freeholds following the direction of the first three, the Court unified France’s changeling population — and more importantly, it set a powerful precedent among changelings in the West as a whole. Namely, the most well-known clause divided the seasons evenly by the calendar, rather than by true seasonal or climatic patterns. The equinoxes and solstices would determine the transition from one Court’s time in power to the next.
