Baykosh
The Baykosh is ghost that haunts the soldiery of North America.
Overview
The Baykosh is a powerful ghost that feeds on those who believe themselves to have safely escaped violence; for example, police officers, soldiers, battered spouses who have escaped their abusive partners.[1] It feeds, specifically, on the time that they think they have won.[1] Mortals are not its only prey — Kindred partake in lives of even sharper contrast than most humans, between their bloody streets and safe havens, making them ready targets for the ghost.[1]
As a logical consequence of its hunting habits, it cannot attack someone who is on a battlefield or a place associated with violence.[2] In most cases, this trait fades from a location shortly after the violence ends (say, after a week for a mob killing; after hundreds of years for such a place as Gettysburg). [2]
Though called a ghost, the Baykosh's behaviors are unusual due to its age and power.[2] Its anchor is essentially all of the North American mainland, for example.[2] Its history reaches back into the myths of Native American tribes, particularly those centered around the Great Lakes, and even those stories dare not claim an origin to it. Note: When Baykosh delivers a fatal wound to a victim, all its Essence returns as it feeds upon the survivor's "time". This is its only means of gaining Essence.
