Black Monastery
The Black Monastery was a convention of Sabbat vampires in 1666 CE where many of the Sabbat Paths of Enlightenment were developed into their modern forms.
The Monastery
The physical monastery where the convention took place was located in Basel, Switzerland on the Swiss border with both France and Germany. It was a former Augustine monastery similar to the Hospice of St. Bernard. The location served as the temporary headquarters for the nascent Sabbat sect at the time.[1]
Development of the Paths
Several major Paths of Enlightenment were either initially founded at the Black Monastery or greatly refined there. Developers and their Paths include:
- Master Frazier (Ventrue antitribu) - Path of Honorable Accord
- Lord Mendel (Tremere antitribu)
- Lady Vadislava (Tzimisce) - Path of Death and the Soul
- Haakon Mortensen (Country Gangrel) - Path of Harmony[2]
- Julian Sanders (Brujah antitribu) - Developing a path that will not go anywhere
- Lady Melisande (Toreador antitribu) - Worked on both the Path of Death and the Soul and the Path of Cathari
- Lord Theron (Malkavian antitribu)
- Lady Veradis (Assamite antitribu) - Path of Caine
- Lord Alexandre (Lasombra) - Refined the Path of Power and the Inner Voice, already developed by Lord Marcus in 1530 CE
