Caltuna
Caltuna is (apparently) a childe of Lambach Ruthven and a resident of Dracula's Castle.
Overview
Caltuna is one of the "Brides of Dracula", and least deferential of them; Beckett regards their relationship as close to being one of equals.[1] When Dracula interrogated a group of visitors from Poenari Castle, Caltuna advised him not to provoke their sire's wrath, and refused to partake of the blood of the impaled ghouls.[2] Eventually, she helped Beckett escape the castle with the shards of Dracula's sword, though up to that point she hadn't shown any concern for his well-being.[3]
Allegedly, Caltuna's mortal brothers were fleshcrafted into the two large ghouled wolfhounds kept at Castle Dracula. She treats the animals with kindness, though it's obvious to Beckett that they hate her.[4]
Identity of Caltuna's Sire
Lambach Ruthven and Dracula have both maintained for centuries that Ruthven is Dracula's sire, and Caltuna's reference to "our" sire would make her Ruthven's childe as well. However, this sire is apparently trapped in Poenari Castle, while Beckett encounters Ruthven elsewhere. This implies that either their sire is someone else, or the "Lambach Ruthven" Beckett met is an imposter.[5]
