Diego Giovanni

Diego Giovanni is a powerful Anziani of the Giovanni clan.

Biography

Although Diego Giovanni has the appearance of a man in his late twenties, he had been a vampire for over six centuries. His smooth movements are that of a machine, not an animal. Those who observe him would notice that he moves like an object, not a person. Judged by appearance, Diego Giovanni would seem like a regular young man, but looking deeper and gauging the postures and attitudes of the people around him, anyone could instantly realize that he was the one making the decisions.

Being one of the Anziani, Diego has the ability to decide who and when a younger member of the Giovanni may give the embrace to a mortal prospect, and he was already shown to mediate conflicts in this manner when Isabel and Accorri Giovanni nearly came to blows over their future childer - the authority of his voice made sure those around him follow his commands to the letter. His grandchilde Gianmaria Giovanni also defers to Diego in these matters, eagerly awaiting his consent to create a childe of her own.

He has demonstrated great disdain for prophecy because he has seen thousands of hysterical prophets (mortal and kindred alike), making him quick to dismiss tales like the Red Sign or the Thin-blooded. On the other hand, he is quite hopeful about the coming of the Endless Night, thinking that when the realms of the dead and the living are reunited, it might resolve the conflicts of the Giovanni's undead condition as well.

Diego is also known as quite the traveler, checking in on Giovanni activities in Africa and the Americas as often as once a decade. The diplomat Paolo Sardenzo was Diego's ghoul and pupil, and the pair had their eyes on mortal politics more than kindred ones. After Paolo's embrace, when he fell from grace, it was also Diego who blood bonded him to ensure his loyalty to the clan. Diego's attention to mortal politics, however, does not mean that he is alienated to the supernatural community. In fact he is very knowledgeable about other sects, clans, and supernatural creatures.
