First Sun People

In Aztec mythology, the world has gone through several iterations defined by their "sun", driven by particular gods.[1] Each had their own dominant people, and the first were a group of giants known only as the First Sun People.[1] After untold years of existence, they were largely destroyed by a plague of jaguars sent by Tezcatlipoca after Quetzalcoatl deposed him as the sun.[2]

By the time of the current cycle, the Fifth Sun, the First Sun People remain in small groups, deep within the jungles, only offering trade to the rare individuals they find trustworthy.[2] Though skilled warriors, they are deathly afraid of jaguars, which remain a significant weakness to them, and are hunted still by some of the few remaining Tezcatlipoca-empowered jaguars and by the ocelomeh, who view the hunt as a test of skill.[2]
