Hungry ghost
Hungry ghosts, also referred to as egui, are ghosts who, previously accustomed by Chinese custom to continued support by their descendants, have lost that support.[1] They may also be born of those who have been murdered without their killers facing justice.[1] During periods of turmoil, they make up one of the most common threats dealt with by Wuchang Gui.[2][3]
Though still humanoid, egui tend to be physically warped in some way, usually emblematic of their hunger; distended stomachs, altered mouths, and the like are common themes. As they grow older and more powerful, however, these ghosts take on less and less human characteristics.[3]
