John Heron
John Heron is a patient of Bishopsgate being treated by Doctor Tucker Jenkins.
Overview
| “ | No. You don't understand. He's not going to stop until I'm dead. | ” |
A man whose early life was defined by being outcast and bullied, Heron's frustrations have rather consistently boiled over at times. Most importantly, it led to the supposed death of James Carver, his subsequent stalking of Heron post-mortis, and the car accident that killed Heron's wife and child.
Carver confronted Heron in front of a church and attempted to rob him. In his fury at thought of being at another's mercy again, Heron beat Carver to death, though on returning to the scene shortly thereafter, there was no evidence of violence of any kind. According to Heron, the dead man appeared everywhere he went, practically taunting him. Eventually, Carver appeared while Heron was driving with his family; the latter attempted to run over the former, but only succeeded in hitting a wall head-on.
As is common in World of Darkness: Asylum, multiple options are given for the nature of the case:
- Option One: Heron's rage and helplessness awakened a tulpa, a thought given life and form. This tulpa is what killed the original Carver, a bully who had targeted Heron, at age fourteen. Now, angered by its reliance on its creator for its continued existence, it is making a misery of Heron's life in the hopes that the outburst of hopelessness and despair caused by the man's suicide will sustain it indefinitely.
- Option Two: John Heron is delusional. He is conflating the child James Carver with an unrelated man who happens to live near him and pass by on occasion. The negative encounters between them are only in Heron's head. A third James Carver, real name Philip Leonard, is wandering Bishopsgate as well, having taken the name due to his place in the Witness Protection Program. Needless to say, this hardly helps matters regarding Heron's paranoia.
