Katya

Katya was the Tremere Primogen of Los Angeles and the sire of Eva. She was among the many casualties of the Second Inquisition assault in 2021.

Biography

Originally hailing from Russia, Katya was a member of New York's Chantry of the Five Boroughs in the 1960s. It was Woodstock that she would meet her future childe and lover Evangeline Dawn, eventually Embracing her without the express permission of her Chantry. When this was discovered, both sire and childe were punished severely by Maximillian Strauss. Katya was separated from Eva and sent to the Prime Chantry in Vienna. While what precisely happened to her there remains a mystery, it is clear from Katya's behavior post "re-education" that it was quite traumatic indeed.

Eva, meanwhile, had been existing for decades under the impression that the Tremere had sent Katya to the Final Death. Much to Eva's shock, Katya would appear in LA in 2019 - likely as part of a calculated move by Strauss to drive a wedge between Eva and her new romantic interest, the Nosferatu Jasper Heartwood. While in LA, after the sudden "demotion" of her clanmate Robert Garrick, Katya would serve as the new Tremere Primogen under Prince Vannevar Thomas. Despite her loyalty to the Camarilla, Katya's feelings for her childe were such that she'd frequently use her influence and status to cover for Eva's activities, in the hopes of keeping her out of harm's way.

After barely escaping the vanguard of the Second Inquisition's attack two years later, Katya would confront the Lasombra Scourge Aurora, having long suspected the Sabbat defector of selling out the rest of the Court. Though a powerful blood sorceress, Katya wasn't strong enough to defeat Aurora's sheer mastery of Oblivion - but, she didn't have to overpower her. She just needed to stall Aurora long enough for the SI's strike teams to catch up with the both of them. Both the Warlock and the Magister would perish under a hail of bullets.

Trivia

  • Katya was introduced as the player character of special guest Shayne Eastin in LA by Night S3E12: Shattered Faith. As with many "guest characters" in the chronicle, Katya only re-appears a select number of times, specifically in S4E5: Pressure Lines, S4E7: Dead Ecstasies, S5E1: Tower of Glass, S5E3: Night Flowers, S5E5: Isolated, S5E6: Cry Havoc, and S5E7: Sharpen Your Knife.
