Lampago
Lampago is an ancient Gangrel of unknown origin that used to lurk on the outskirts of Tucson, Arizona. Sire of the Courier, if they're Gangrel.
Overview
Lampago and her lot of blood slaves used to occupy an abandoned research facility on the outskirts of Tucson, up to the point when hunters destroyed both her haven and spawn. It was unknown whether Lampago herself survived or not, but none heard of her ever since. She was said to already be more of a beast, unable to speak.
At some point after the hunter attack, she ended up as a part of Jasper Knowles' experimentation at BioSphere Zero. The Warlock used unconventional means, such as torture to "break and then rebuild" a number of vampires, with various results: one of such experiments, on a Nosferatu Modian, ended up with Modian turning into a wight. With Lampago, however, it ended up with success: Knowles managed to return her to her human shape, and also appeared to somewhat enhance her existing shapeshifting capabilities. He also restored her ability to speak and think straight.
Lampago adopted a new personality - of a woman named "Stephanie". She then returned to BioSphere Zero and attempted to find a cache buried there. That's where the Courier will meet her.
Trivia
- Lampago will survive regardless of the Courier's choices: her worst-case scenario is being mortally wounded and dragging herself into the wilds.
- Despite being considered rather old, ancient even, Lampago is of high generation.
- The late updates reveal that it was Ventrue Brigit, childe of the former Prince of Tucson, who suggested the idea of using hunters to get rid of Lampago.
- There's a tapestry in Prince Lettow's office labeled "Lampago". It shows "a kind of a man-tiger, with a youth's beautiful face and a bestial bloodred body." There's a placard with commentary, but it's in Polish and Russian.
- Lampago can shift forms with astonishing speed.
- It appears that she can assume a form of any creature she's eaten. The many forms available to her include coyote, puma, a Rottweiler, even some lizards.
- Lampago's still-abandoned haven was later used by Chiara della Passiglia, a treasure hunter from Clan Hecata, for her own purposes.
- Had a long-time feud with a Ravnos elder Ypotryll.
- Lampago appears to possess some knowledge about Set.
- A lampago or lympago is actually a mythical heraldic beast in the form of a "man-tiger or man-lion" with the body of a tiger or lion and the head of a man. It should be distinguished from similar mythical heraldic beasts the manticore and the satyral.
