Having grown up an orphan in Naples, Lucia was sold off to a wealthy family in New York as a teenager. She escaped her situation by marrying one Mr. Merchant, a crime lord searching for a trophy wife.

Lucia eventually came to realize that he was over one hundred years old, despite only looking fifty. She learned why when two rival families allied to attack him. In fighting them off, Mr. Merchant drained the vitality from his attackers to heal. Regardless, it was not enough. Before succumbing to his wounds, the man offered to make Lucia like him. She agreed. Now, Lucia has taken up the remains of her late husband’s criminal business, building it up again.
