Nelson Chang (CofD)

Nelson Chang is a career man who has recently developed a spiritual interest.

Overview

“ All thoughts, all desires and intelligences of every single soul in the world, are part of one collective consciousness. This is the Big Mind. ”

The son of a pair of immigrant blue-collar workers, Chang clawed his way into success as a junior partner in a successful law firm.[1] Though largely regarding the firm's mandatory "morale" exercises as useless dross, one spiritualist speaker appealed to him. This speaker discussed the "Big Mind Theory" — the notion that one can reach a state of unity with life and the world by discarding the self, and in so doing access the memory of all of humanity.[1]

In truth, the speaker was acting as a beacon for dream- and emotion-spirits and weakening the Gauntlet around her.[1] Following her guidance, Chang himself became much the same, beginning to hear the spirits around him.[2] It is only a matter of time, really, before he has weakened the Gauntlet sufficiently to allow malicious and powerful spirits through into the material world.
